Scottish Independance - The one Certain Outcome

If the YES voters win, then we can be sure that for a time there will be economic confusion. What the consequences will be over the next few hundred years for the Scottish people is of course unknown, no matter what the campaigners say.

The only certainty for Scotland if they do say YES to Independence is that 

Alex Salmond

will go down in the history books as a Scottish hero, and this is what he really wants.

Solidarity amongst peoples will be lost too.

Power, Loathing and ISIS

Fear of death is a powerful motivator. 
It seems to me that ISIS is willing to use violence above all other methods to gain control of territory and the population that lives there.

If they really do believe that Islam is a religion and political philosophy worthy of guiding the management of a healthy and fulfilled civilization, can they not present their approach to the world in an mature manner? Are they not capable of presenting their case to the world.

Do they actually realize that only force will bring them believers because they are morally weak!

Hitler was a "pussy cat" compared to what these people seem to be prepared to do if reports are to be believed.

All governments have difficulty including minority political interests in their programs. But in the civilized world we try.

Creating Martyrs only has meaning to the living believers, the dead can no longer contribute to building a better society. So sad.

PS Why are they so Afraid of the power of History and Love, Why do they FEAR Women.

Putin and Russia showing weakness MH17

The fact that Putin cannot secure the site of theMH17 crash site tells us that he is much weaker than he would like us to believe.

Yes he has been supporting the rebels in Ukraine but now he has lost control.

Clearly made a big mistake in letting anti aircraft missiles into the area and allowing local commander to order their use. They are Russian.

Do the civilized thing Mr Putin and ensure proper control of the crash site, as you would if it were on Russian soil.

Or does Putin have some other "long game" he is playing with the EU and USA. Dangerous.

Putin, Flight MH17, EU.

What an awful tragedy for the passengers on Flight MH17 and their families. My heart goes out to them.

Putin allowed the Russian missiles to be present in the area from which they were fired and knew it was just a matter of time before a passing civilian airliner would be brought down. 

What is his long game toward Ukraine and the EU.

The European air traffic authorities should have known better than to allow flights to route over a war zone which had all ready shot down aircraft recently. How naive could the people be who made such a decision.

Hamas leadership

Israel is a bully and over reacts to any criticism toward its action and policies with respect to the Palestinians. Land grabs are immoral.

Hamas leadership do not seem to care about the lives of those they wish to lead. They could so easily stop the Israeli killing of the Palestinians by ceasing the firing of rockets at civilians. 

Do they want Dead Palestinians to be Martyrs? A dead person has no life at all. This is no way to build a Nation.

Hamas should take the moral high ground... and look like truly strong leaders who put their people first.

Taliban and a fear of educated women.

Am I misunderstanding something, or are the Taliban really afraid of educated women.

My understanding is that schools for women are not allowed and this is why a girl who wanted to get an education was shot!!

What are they really afraid of, or are they simply saying that their "religion" bans it? Civilization has moved on a bit since the religion was established and the roles of men and women is society were set.

Is an educated woman a real threat to the power of the male in the Taliban run society. I am sure they could contribute a lot, and I suspect women would not need to revert to guns and fear tactics to help the world be a good place for all.

Please help me understand what is going on. Please do not tell me that killing those who disagree with you is making a better society for anyone.

Politicians and Ukraine. Danger.

Danger for Europe in Ukraine.

There is no doubt that a war in Ukraine would  lead to many deaths, create hundreds of thousands of refugees and destroy the structure of effective government as various political factions fight for power.

Yes, the principal of good democracy has been violated by the recent events in the country. The new power in Kiev has not been a very good example of clean democratic process either.

Now it needs cool heads to prevail. (If there are any).

Once the Russians quieten things down in the East tempers can cool. It will take few years for everything to stabilize.

Eventually a sensible democratic society will emerge again and life will normalize for the ordinary citizens. Without the killings etc.

Ucraine, Putin, Obama and all the other politicians and Anarchists.

A civil war in the Ukraine would be the real catastrophe, not only for the citizens in the country, but the rest of Europe too.

Syria has been failed by its Government and especially those that decided arming rebel groups was "the right thing to do". It has led to misery on a grand scale.

This is what would happen if rebels were armed in the Ukraine. Total catastrophe!!!

Is the Russian troops arrival "illegal". Probably. But it might just be keeping the peace. And that is what is needed.

If Europe or Obama wants to help, then get the Squabbling Bickering groups around the table and keep them there until the street demonstrations (and worse) stop.

Political point scoring, at a time when "Firm Policing" is required is not good for any of us.

Political Unrest and Folly of Armed rebellion.

Syria, Egypt, Afganistan, Ukraine. Just some of the Nations where killing and "power games" are leading to chaos for the ordinary families, women and children who are the ones really suffering.

Men are the cause of this stupid situation, why don't government leaders get involved and stop it.

Well, eternal governments are involved. But once the violence takes hold tempers are raised and "getting back at the government" leads to calls to overthrow it and it will use all the resources at its disposal to "put down" the rebellion. And the consequences are clear for all to see.

So is this type of rebellion worth while?

If it leads to hundred of thousands of deaths (Syria) or just a few, there are no winners. Building a better society for our fellow citizens has failed if just one dies.  A child looses a father, a mother a son or husband. What a mess. Creating grief.
